Hold the Display and EX Mode switches down while powering up the unit. Keep them held down until the display reads --
M00nnnnnn S00nnnnnn
If the values of M and S are 00111500 and 00111400, respectively, then the firmware is current.

The oldest firmware types caused several problems. The "middle" firmware corrected these problems, but added a new one -- an occasional hang during performance. Which of these is "worst" depends on your personal situation.
OTOH, these are all FIRMWARE bugs, and can all be corrected without popping the top on the organ. If you find that you don't have the latest firmware, use that as a bargaining tool, then have the unit upgraded, and you'll have a terrific instrument.
