Bruce,

Oil to lube the Leslie horn. I've been doing so for years, and my Leslie works
fine. I have been cautioned by two very prominent techs to never use anything
heavier -- not ever 3-in-1 oil.
Which is why I'm ranting :-)
I, too, have heard these techs and their advice and have been shouted down by
their syncophants. The 3-in-1 prohibition is appropriate for TG lubricating --
lightweight loads and capillary feed -- but to impose that template on a rotor is
superstition and voodoo, prominence notwithstanding.
Don't get me wrong, there's nothing completely *wrong* with HammondLube on a rotor
and your Leslie will, in fact, appear to work just fine. In the same way your car
will work fine when looooong overdue for an oil change. But if longevity,
mechanics, and (surprisingly noticable) induced noises are of any concern, then
HammondLube, IMO, is an inferior choice.
I'm just one of those guys that love moving parts and can't stand anything less
than smooooooooth workings.
