Subject:Re: new member
Here are my first questions again. I do seem to be having trouble posting
things; I send them, but never see them.
I got a Roland VK-7 when they first came out. It sounded great and I loved
it. As time went on, it began to act in an erratic way (crashing, turning
itself off, etc.). It made a couple trips to Roland (while I played a new
CX3), and one thing they did is replace the OS. It didn't help the problem,
but it came back with a very different sounding Leslie effect. It sounds
great except for when the bass rotor is slowing down and the treble horn has
already slowed down. For those few seconds, I get a very un-Leslie-like,
synthetic sound that drives me crazy. It is kind of like a filter sweep
with a lot of resonance or a vowel-like eee-ooo sound (if that makes sense).
Roland finally replaced all the boards in the VK, and it works great, but it
still makes that bizarre Leslie sound. I've come up with a way around it -
I shortened the rotor slow down time (and the speed up time - just to make
it symmetrical), and it sounds good (like I just tightened the rotor
pulley). But my questions are: Has anyone else noticed this? And, is
there any way around this problem other than going back to the early OS?
Thanks!
