Subject:VK-7 overdrive

I've recently purchased a VK-7 in the interest of keeping food on the
table around here. I really enjoy the sound it puts out and am still
in the process of learning how to tweak it to taste. The only
problem I really have with the board at the moment is the sound and
function of the overdrive. It seems too grainy and harsh for my
taste especially around the 9 o'clock thru 11 o'clock positions.
What should I consider to smooth it out? An overdrive effect pedal
for guitars to substitute for the onboard overdrive or some sort of
tube preamp to warm up the VK-7 output in general. The function of
the overdrive, volume goes up as the overdrive is increased, is
another tough one especially since the volume control is all the way
on the other side. (I might have to ask my techie move this over to
the other side of the keyboard.)

Thanks,

Kelly B.
