Subject:Re: XK2 tone

I've used EQ on my XK-2 for quite a while precisely because it's too shrill
up top and too bassy down low. The shrillness I attribute to the XK-2
itself. The bassiness I've always attributed to my use of a bass-happy
Roland KC-500 for the lower rotor sim with a Pro-3T. But maybe the XK-2 is
bass happy too. Every setup will require its own particular approach to EQ,
but the article on EQing an XB-2 at theatreorgans.com
(http://theatreorgans.com/hammond/faq/files/xb-2.html#3) is what got me
started in the right direction. In any event, the EQ helps balance out the
tone, but I've concluded there's really nothing that can be done to give it
more muscle, especially in the top 1 1/2 octaves. I can get a screaming high
C, and the EQ pretty much removes the shrillness, but full chords are
noticeable thinner than on a real B3. After two years I've concluded that's
just the way it is.
