Yes, you are correct. Beyond the internal presets, there's no "user"
memory in the Spin.

Once again, you're correct. If you don't like any of the 20 or so
presets, you will have to send the proper MIDI commands each time you
power the unit up, to get it the way you like it

Can't tell you how the Spin compares to the Spin II.
