Subject:Re: Dynacord CLS222 - Welcome back!

-Hi,
I'd been looking for one of these things for a few years after having
read about them. Found mine on the German ebay.site. I use mine with
a V3 and ArtdualMP tube pre-amp. Through phones, on speakers, mono or
stereo it's really close to a Leslie, including the liqid quality
sound that a Leslie produces which does not seem available from
digital simulators. I'm delighted with mine, I think it is so close
that if you were not aware that a Dynacord was being used, you
wouldn't question whether it was a mic'd Leslie or not. It's not a
pretty sight but makes a wonderful sound. Don't know why they went
out of production. They always get a good number of bids in the
auctions.
They were way too expensive when they were new, but after a few
production runs, if the cost had been reduced I guess they could have
sold forever. They were replaced by the DLS223 and then an upgraded
Eprom version DLS300, both digital re-incarnations. Don't know how
these compared but the 223 like the 222 received a stonking review in
Sound on Sound mag.
