Dean,

It is my understanding that even though you see a real-time update of
your email address on the web interface, Yahoo has a delayed processing
of when this actually takes effect and you begin getting emails at the
new address (perhaps they have a batch that runs a couple of times a
day?)... One time, I unsubscribed to another group and it took about 8
hours before I stopped receiving the emails.

So it is not the best user experience, but it pretty normal.
