Subject:B4 + SpeakEasy + Carvin 1015 = HEAVEN!!!!!!
As some of you might know, I sent back the Carvin 1010
I had purchased and ordered the 1015. Last night was
the first gig with it.
Holy God.
NOW I know what everyone has been raving about
regarding the SpeakEasy Vintage Tube Pre-Amp!! I have
had it for a couple months and have been tweaking the
whole time, but had never really gotten it to do what
everyone said it did.
The problem wasn't the Pre-amp - it was the amp.
The Carvin 1015 is 1000W with a 15", 2 8" speakers and
a horn. It is bi-amped so you can control the
crossover to your taste.
Clarity. Tone. Depth. Volume to spare. It has
EVERYTHING you could possibly want in an amp.
The nice fat mid-range of the Hammond sound (from the
B4) totally sings with this set-up. When I step on
it, it spits at me!
The blues band I play with does the tune "Gearheads"
from the Danny Gatton/Joey DeFrancesco record. Last
night my rig sounded closer to the sound on that
record than EVER!! It was one of those nights where I
actually stopped a couple times and went, "DAMN!! This
thing sounds GOOD!!"
Oh...and the Rhodes through the other side of the S.
Easy is fat and barky...just what I want.
The whole band heard the difference. They could tell
also by how I played. The better my sound, the more
inspired I am to play.
So....
Thank you Native Instruments!
Thank you Steve Hayes and SpeakEasy!
Thank you Carvin!!!
The 1015 is WELL worth the $$. So is the SpeakEasy.
Mitch
