Subject:KBR-M straight channels & EP ?
How are the straight channels on the KBR-M ? Good enough for electric piano ?
Here's the scoop:
At my church, we're presently using a vintage A-100 (no Leslie, although
they're using my M-S Pro-3T+Low-Pro for Advent - ironically stopped most of
the time), a Yamaha PSR-550, and a spinet piano.
The Yamaha is being played through a Peavey 5150 amp and 4x12 slant-face
speaker, although we don't need nearly that power (when we first got the
Yamaha, we used it with its internal speakers and it was "almost enough").
For the most part it's being used for electric piano voice (CP-80 and DX) and
we haven't needed a lot of "high end" on the amp for the Yamaha.
We want to replace the Peavey for various reasons (space, that it belongs to
a parishioner, etc). One of the options is a KBR-M, to give us some Leslie on
the A-100 as well as more output for the Yamaha.
This is a small sanctuary, wide but not very deep (seats 150 if we seat 30
wide and 6 deep). The building is a "concrete igloo", very reflective
acoustically. The platform takes up almost 1/4 of the sanctuary, but when the
choir is in, space is a little tight, esp with my M-S rig on the platform
right now. Money's tight too, or we'd probably get a "real Leslie" or M-S for
the organ and a Barbetta/ Mackie/ JBL Eon for the Yamaha.
Anyway, for those that have done something like this, what do you think ?
