Let me toss in Yet Another Variation that works well for me.

I place the Speakeasy (howler mod) in the aux chain, allowing me to control
individual levels for instruments (CX3 and S80) and balance the overall
send/return levels. I use the master send/return levels in conjunction w/the
Speakeasy levels (usually about 3 o'clock as Steve Hayes suggests) to get
the best signal/noise ratio and avoid overloading the mixer (small 6 channel
Behringer).

This allows me to decide in the middle of a solo on either piano/clav/rhodes
or organ to just add more on the aux send and get more "grit".
