Hi; I have a V5-Rotosphere setup. In my setup, the Rotosphere as a tube
preamp has a very strong influence on the tone. It fattens things up but
also muddies up some of the high-end detail and adds some noise. As far as
preamps go, I give it very high marks. I have been very happy with the unit.
Moving along now, because it is such an invasive preamp effect, I never
thought of putting a SECOND tube preamp in series with a Rotosphere until
seeing your message. One of the reasons double-preamping didn't occurred to
me is because of the magnification of the HK tube-noise (I think back on my
experiments with putting two fuzz-tones in series!).
I'd like to try an A/B comparison of your V5-Speakeasy-Rotosphere setup with
a setup that swaps the Rotosphere with a non-tube emulator.
