Subject:Re: V5/Speakeasy Combo

Hi Mike (and other list members) -

I was interested in your comments regarding the V5 and Speakasy preamp. I also have a V5 (played into a H&K Tube Rotosphere) and Speakeasy, but so far have not noticed a big improvement in the organ sound from using the Speakeasy. I am hoping this is either because of the way I have it configured or its order in the chain. I seem to get a lot of hum and buzz when using the Speakeasy. My rig is as follows: I have the V5 going into the H&K Rotosphere into an Ernie Ball volume pedal into the Speakeasy into a Mackie 1202 VLZ Pro Mixer into a Mackie SRM450 Powered Speaker.

What are the Speakeasy volume/treble/bass settings do you use and what is the order of your setup? Does my setup order seem right to you? I would appreciate any suggestions you have for improving my experience with the Speakeasy. I really want to like it and after all the comments which have been written on the Clonewheel group list I was sure it would be a great improvement to my sound but so far I have been disappointed. I really love my V5 though and have also been pretty pleased with the Rotosphere Leslie effect.

Thanks and Happy Holidays!

the KeyFive is the double manual version of the V5. It will be out soon. Its
funny, I'm incline to believe that what ever clone you use, use it to the
best of its ability. When i use my V5 module for the Ray Charles rehearsal
with a speakeasy preamp and the spin II going stereo into the board, He LOVED
IT. He even compared me to Billy Preston (WOW). He even let me take a solo on
America the Beautiful!!!!!!!!. I must admit that I 've spent countless of
dollars of trying to find the next best thing. From VK7 to the new CX3, I
have return them except the V5. Each and every one of us has a different
"ear" to what sounds good to him or her. So rather looking for the best
clone, look for what inspires you to PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!On that note I wish
all you brothers a Merry Christmas and may you all prosper in the New
Year!!!!! Pics are coming soon. God Bless. MikeW.
