I have to respectfully disagree. Per the charter, this group is for "Hammond organ clone products, and to a lesser extent clones of other electro-mechanical instruments like Clavinets and Rhodes pianos." To me, that does not include electronic drums -- or for that matter, cloning a violin sound on a synthesizer, cloning the sound of a Coke can with a sampler, or cloning sheep on a farm.

An acoustic drum is not an "electro-mechanical instrument" -- at least, the basic drum is not. It is a mechanical instrument, different in many aspects from a Clavinet or a Rhodes Piano.

The original discussion of drums was an analogy for purposes of illustration. I allowed a certain amount of the resulting electronic drum banter to go ahead, because it was musically related to the discussion at hand, but the topic should probably have been labeled [OT] from the start, and certainly should have been so after it took a turn into the pros and cons of electronic drums.

And, further drum discussions should be taken offline.
