The band I work with had been in electronic drum land so all
instrumentation went into a mixer, only cymbals were miked, and then to a
DAT for CD burning. Rotosphere is good for this.

But now we're in a room where all play out into the void. So it's back to
ear plugs and hearing a different tonal quality. Tough compromise.

less weight and pieces to haul. Nothing to mike, level is so low that when
we practice, we sing w/out mikes. Stereo outs go directly into our Mackie
speakers. In fact, everyone goes directly in. Vocal mike on the drummer
doesn't pick up the drums. No sidefill needed for monitoring, just regular
monitor is great.
