It was a hack that I came up with to disable the hot action, returning the CX-3 to the same sort of action that any other modern digital keyboard has. It takes advantage of the fact that the CX-3 can transmit both "hot" (1-switch) and "regular" (2-switch) MIDI data at the same time:

1. Turn local off. This means that the keyboard and the sounds are now separated, and require MIDI to connect them back together.

2. Connect a short MIDI cable from MIDI Out to MIDI In on the CX-3.

3. Go into Global mode and set the following --

- Upper Rx CH to any setting you would like. (Normally, it's set to CH1).
- Upper Tx CH to OFF.
- Upper 2nd CH to the same channel as Upper Rx.

What this does is tell the CX-3 to not send any 1-switch data out, but to send 2-switch data on the upper keyboard channel. (The "2nd" channel is the one that sends velocity sensitive, 2-switch data.)

Downsides? #1) Making any noises requires MIDI, which can overflow if you are playing a lot of notes; could cause lockups and/or missed notes. #2) If you want to use both manuals, you need a MIDI merger to combine the MIDI Out and 2nd keyboard signals back into one MIDI In stream. (Splits are still OK).

Regards,

-BW
