Thanks for the tips. The sturdy keyboard was my main
draw. That & being used to the sound of an XM-1
already. Very similar sound engine if they aren't
essentially the same, but I don't know.
I was using a Roland D-10 to control the XM-1 & it
didn't handle palm smears well. The keys were starting
to move side-to-side badly & sometimes one would
either get stuck while depressed (causing very bad
sounds) or just pop out of its' channel completely.
After my last gig when both things happened I decided
that was it. I'll finish off a gig no matter what I
have to do, even when I've had to tape keys or tape
something in place of a broken key to finish, but once
the show is over I'm not about to deal with broken
gear. Life's too short & broken stuff is too annoying.
