Subject:Question about Hammond XK-2 & 147 Leslie Settings
Greetings!
I use a Hammond XK-2, Speakeasy Vintage Pedal and a 147 Leslie for my gigs. I
have a question about the Ohm switch on the Leslie amp, which has three
settings: 8 ohm, 16 ohm, and open. I remember many years ago when I had a
Panther Organ (am I dating myself)? and a 147, someone told me I would get
more volume out of the rig if I ran the Leslie on "open." I did back then,
and yes, I did get a lot more volume. What is the "right" thing to do here?
Is it OK to run the amp on open? Or am I damaging something at the cost of a
little extra loudness (other than my ears)?
BTW: How many of you know what a Panther was? (This is a shameless age
check!)
Charlie
