Here's my two cents. Get pedals, even the little Studiologic or Roland
variety. I say this especially for clones, because most clones have a
thinness issue as it is. I've noticed pedals haven't been mentioned yet, so
at the risk of sounding like the "purist," I had to say it.

Without pedals, it is impossible to get about 50% of the voicings you hear
Jimmy and Joey using. If you only learn how to drop in a strategic pedal
note now and then, that will get you very, very far. (Do I need the
asbestos suit now . . . )
