Dear list,
This is old news, but here we go. I have to move lightly and fast. Given
these requirements, I have been pleased with using one newest-model Mackie
monitor (less than $500), into which I plug pedals and Korg CX3 directly.
Since I'm lazy, I just use one Mackie, the onboard Leslie, and no mixer
(since the Mackie has its own 3-way mixer with two-band EQ). The Mackie also
has direct out for mains.
Sometimes I use an intervening Rotosphere with the spin disenabled as a
preamp.
I play both manuals (driving a CX3) plus pedals (driving a V5) and the Mackie
handles all this with excellent clarity, cutting through any mix, even mixes
with loud, distorted guitars. I think this setup is a good value for cost.
