Subject:Re: Totally ON Topic: Clone shootout (semi long post)

I run the Emu B3 thru a MS KBR-M from a Korg T3 (used as a controller
only) and a Yamaha FC-10.

Sounds good, but would rather have the real thing.
I have heard the unit on a video which was produced for us. Actually
sounded great!
(I think that I was even more amazed with my organ lead, "Can I do
that?" I asked,
'cause normally I don't play that well...)

Anyway,

The E-mu doesn't always trigger properly. Sometimes notes are missing.
You can pick them up again quickly
by pressing the keys again. I notice it, but I'm not sure that even the
band notices it.

As I have previously said, the E-mu sounds good. The built-in Leslie
doesn't sound good. I like the MS-KBR-M
cabinet. Nice unit.

The E-mu is difficult to use live. The FC-10 solves this problem
somewhat. I really miss tweaking drawbars.

For about $1000 for the E-mu and the KBR-M you can't beat the price.

My computer/soundcard though can't always buffer the notes (Celeron 533 with a Roland MPU401 (with MCA-1 connector box) / 16bit sound card direct which gives me a 25ms delay (which is quite good) and 64MB RAM) It has problems when the hard disk is working (not that often) which would be totally unacceptable in a recording session or on a gig!!! And I have NO intention in changing my computer for a sound simulator!)
