I got my Nord Electro a couple of months ago to replace my old
Hammond B250 (mid 70's transistor model). Best move I've ever made.
Apart from the fact that it is so light it sounds very good. The
chorus and leslie sim sounds just as good as the real thing when
playing live. The audience at my bands regular gigs didn't even
notice that there wasn't a hammond and leslie set up!! On the
downside - playing using stereo outputs to the main PA can sound a
little 'woody' but this maybe 'coz I'm used to having a big sound
right in my ear from my leslie. Also, the acoustic piano sounds thin
when playing live so still using my Trinity with a multisampled great
piano. The other piano sounds are OK but don't cut through the mix
when playing live unless you take loads of mid and low end out and
boost the treble through the PA. Tried doing this using the onboard
bass/treble and EQ effects but all the sounds start to become thin
and wimpy again. Overall though - great keyboard for hammond sounds.
