The line I paraphrased was supposed to have been said by Olivier when Dustin
Hoffman showed up for work on Marathon Man ("is it safe?") looking
exhausted. Hoffman said he'd been up all night to "prepare" for the scene
they were shooting. Olivier then said "Have you tried acting, my dear boy?"
