Subject:Re: module for Rhodes/Hammond sounds?
Thanks for all the feedback chaps and chapesses, this has become an
interesting thread.
I'll keep an eye open for those old Roland modules.
Strikes me that Clavia have a unique product with their electro. No-
one else is offering a
combined Rhodes and Hammond emulator. I'm hoping other manufacturers
will jump on the bandwagon and give us more choice.
I've given the
electro a good playing in the shop but I just didn't get that kick
that is so important. I thought it sounded mostly cold, lifeless and
synthetic. In fairness perhaps the instrument sounds better in a
live context played through an amp than it does when listening on
headphones in the shop. I also had a couple of notes stick when I
played some fast grace notes which isn't good.
I'd like to see a modelled Rhodes (instead of samples) in a module.
Then it'll be possible to tweak it to get a range of el. piano
sound. It's already been done in software (EVP88 and Lounge Lizard)!
