Mark,

Early CX-3's -- s/n 600 and below -- had a different keyboard. Depending
on your playing style, you may or may not want that swapped out. Really
fast players often had issues with double-striking on the early keyboard.

As far as the firmware, the final version was phased in at around s/n 1200,
but I have heard of owners of older CX-3's that have the latest firmware
from day one. It's not a walk in the park to upgrade it, but it can be
done without opening the top of the organ, and without shipping it back to
the factory. I would imagine that many of the organs in stores have the
update by now. To find the revision of the firmware, turn your CX-3 off,
hold down the Display button, then turn it back on. (You'll have to hold
the button down 3-5 seconds after you power on the organ.) The current
version is 'M00111500 S00111400'.
