I have all my patches set on the CX3 to use pedal 2 for the wheel brake.
I'll use it sparingly to end the high note cluster/modulation of a solo. It
gets attention.

I used to fire down/up my L100 all the time. I could do a semi-pitch bend up
by proper application of the power switch and volume/swell pedal. (key off,
pedal to minimum, power off for a fraction of a second, key on, pedal up -
ta da!) The mechanics are similar to a guitarist getting violin like tones
using the volume knob, it takes a while but once you've got it you can get
faster and cleaner.

Another possible way that effect could be done live would be a delay unit.
Making delay times shorter raises the pitch for a bit. Feedback makes it
interesting.

Another bit of pitch bend/CX3 trivia - the CX3 will respond to pitch bend,
you just set it in the global parameters.
