It may be true, but the "urban legend" that Bruce mentioned sounds more
plausible since in "Smokin'" the pitch goes both down AND up.

Jon Lord ever use this? You might expect something like this from him
since he often did, what are in my opinion, guitar-like things with the
organ.... ie power-chord 5ths, not to mention the Marshalls, as well as
super fast arpegios in similar fashion to a guitar arpegio.

Strange that more emulators don't have the pitch bend function. I don't
imagine it would be technically difficult to include. I'm sure NI is
probably adding the function to a future version of B4 as we speak.
Although it's a very small part of the song..."Smokin'" it certainly is a
signature part of it...and not being able to emulate it disappoints me.
What I'll probably do to compensate is to queue up an organ sound on my
second keyboard and use the pitch bend for the few small parts that require
it.

Tom had a belt around a drum that he could slow down the tone generator
on a TW Hammond to make the described pitch down effect. Haven't tried
it on a clone yet!
