Don't underestimate the image-factor, regardless of the size of stage
you're occupying. Larry's got it right. And there's nothing worse than
playing a wobbly X-stand full of hi-tech keyboard when, for a few hours
in your friend's shed/workshop, you can create a masterpiece of
retro-styled originality. (Just ask James Eaton, he's seen my rig! )

BTW I've now done 2 gigs with my CX-3 through my Leslie 900/147
conversion and am very happy with the results.

My current project (longish-term) is to build myself a lower manual (for
the CX-3) using a (shortened) keybed from a Roland EP7 keyboard. This
has the same keys as the Roland A33, and is what I used to control my
Voce V5. The next stage is to find a contact strip that matches the
scale of the now shortened 61 note keybed, or otherwise to construct
one. I'll then connect a Deopfer CTM64 midi-controller to do the
interface stuff. I've investigated gutting cheap Casio/Yamaha
home-keyboards for the contacts/electronics, but the scale of keyboard
is too short. If anyone's embarked on this kind of project please speak
up!
