With the right EQ the VK-7 sounds good enough for me not to want to
sacrifice the pedals and Leslie connector for the CX-3. Listening to
Pete Whittaker's CX-3 on a gig, the Chorus/Vibrato doesn't seem that
much more convincing than the VK-7. It also seemed too slow, and not
always usable. I wouldn't mind the fast action keyboard and the
extra set of drawbars though...

For me an iBook running B4 with a PC1600x MIDI controller would be a
substantial improvement over the VK-7.

Every time I try B4 on my PC, I am bowled over by how detailed it
sounds, and how good it sounds "out of the box" without having to
adjust a single slider on my equaliser, except I don't remember the
25ms delay on a real Hammond! The chorus/vibrato can be used under
all circumstances unlike the VK-7. On my VK-7 C-3 in the top octave
is too deep and the rest is ok, and for C-2 the top octave is ok and
the rest is too shallow. I would guess that a real scanner has a
different frequency to depth characteristic than the VK-7 and Roland
couldn't model this closely.
