Subject:Re: Xk-2/CX3 pricing in Australia
G'day GK,
I didn't make clear the XK-2 list price in Australia, which is AU$3200, so shipping one out from the US would not be cost effective with shipping, import duty and possibly the GST. A US sourced CX-3 would also have the problem of incompatible power supplies from the 110V/60Hz US standard to the 240V/50Hz Australian standard. Getting a decent converter adds around AU$150-200 to the cost before shipping, import duties and GST. I would gestimate that you couldn't get a new CX-3 out here for much less than AU$5000.
I have generated a good rule of thumb for converting US prices into Aussie prices. Double the US price and add 20%. This is no guarentee, cause if you take the CX-3 as an example, it should be possible using my formula to get it at around AU$4800. I've seen A100's of unknown condition advertised with a 147 for AU$5500. Highest price I've seen for an overhauled C3 or B3 with a 122 is AU$8000. If you factor in the cost of a Leslie (old one, not a new one!! New 122 is around AU$4500) or Pro 3T (AU$2500, new) with a CX-3 in this country, then there is not a great deal of change out of AU$8000!!!!
So anyone still wants to make a donation the "Rohan needs new equipment Foundation", which was formally known as "Rohan needs a 122 Foundation"??? :-)
Cheers
Rohan
