No, Mark Naftalin held that slot. The link you're probably thinking of is
that Kooper worked often with Mike Bloomfield, who was one of the two
guitarists in Butterfield's first well-known lineup. "Super Session" and
"Live Adventures" were two albums that opened a lot of young ears, including
mine, to the Hammond sound.
