Subject:Uploaded Pictures of Upper Rotor in an 8 space Rack
A while ago I got requests to post some pix of my portable leslie.
It doesn't look pretty, but it gets the job done.
Final cost was about $300 in parts:
- 8 space rack
- Used horn, spindle, bearing (horn is marked "Atlas" any idea of
power rating?)
- Used 2-speed motor
- rubber O-belt
- Speaker in + X-over
- Simple speed control: 2 Solid state relays, 1.5V for control.
- Pedal input for speed control (slow/fast/stop)
I'm happy to answer any questions about the design. I'm also still
undecided on whether I like it more than a similar sized design based
around a 8" + foam rotor assembly from a console organ. I think it
depends a lot on the volume I'm playing at and the style of music...
I have a new speaker coming in for that leslie this week in an
attempt to clean up some hiss (Eminence Alpha 8MR closed basket
midrange) and certainly like the fact that it is 8 ohms to match my
bass cab and can handle a healthy amount of power.
