Subject:More FM on Pro-3T

Reading the archives from March I gather that the Pro-3T was designed to
simulate the sound of an open backed 147 with deflectors removed. I too
would like to get the sound of a stock closed back Leslie with deflectors. I
think it really adds a lot to the upper octaves especially when the high
drawbars are pulled out.

I tried putting some tape across the slots on my Pro-3T so that they were
about 75% covered and it seemed to make a difference in the right direction.
I believe that the slot design on a 147 is at least partially responsible
for the FM as they limit direct sound from the horn to like those on a
closed 147. With this result I am tempted to put some 6mm plywood across
the holes on the inside to more closely model the 147 slots.

Has anyone on the list since experimented with:

- changing the shape of the holes (with cardboard, tape etc)

- adding a deflector to the horn ? (I have some old deflectors but I don't
want to unbalance the horn and don't have any equipment to balance it)

Interested to hear...

Cheers
