Subject:Re: OT for a minute: Best Wah FX for Clavinet?
Brian,
There are several companies who make boxes that convert MIDI into relay
switch controls. Two that I am aware of are MIDI Solutions and Sound
Sculpture. Some devices have more switches than others; some are
line-powered, others require wall warts or direct AC. The amount (and
ease) of programming varies between models. The important point is that
these kind of boxes are a complete solution, if what you really want is to
use MIDI to switch on and off some non-MIDI gear, while the MIDI-to-CV
approach requires additional electronics in this particular
application. It's a question of getting exactly what you are looking for,
or getting something that can be CONVERTED into something that you are
looking for. Both solutions will solve the problem, but one approach
requires some additional tech work to get there.
Discussing more specifics -- at least, from my situation -- drops out of
the non-commercial aspect of this forum, as I sell a couple of such
devices. As I mentioned earlier: Contact me offline if you are looking
for more details; I'd be happy to discuss the pros and cons of the products.
Regards,
-BW
