Subject:Tell me Why!

Hi All
I will more than likely get Splashed & Burned for this one!.I am not a Tech.in electronics or acoustics,but I understand the principle behind a Rotary Speaker!.Doppler effect etc.etc.When the Leslie was first built,( before even I was born),Bass speakers
had to be very large.15"/18" in diameter.Inside a box that 5 men could stand on without it collapsing.
They have managed with the aid of modern technology to use I.C.'s to clone 91 wheels turning.Some people would not totally agree that remark!.So why do Leslies have to be so large?.
Modern Hi-Fi systems use tweeters and sub woofers of such a small size by comparison a few years ago.When I got my first realy good Hi-Fi many years ago, the speakers were massive!.Now I am sitting at a P.C. the tweeters you can hold one in each hand,and the sub-woofer sits under the desk& is about 12"x9"x9".If the bass is cranked right up objects in the room start moving around, although the watts output is only about 15.

1:- Using modern tech.could it not be possible to make a small rotary cabinet?
2:- Has it ever been tryed?

If it is not possible,can one of you Techs.out there tell me why.

P.S.I know the Pro-3T is fairly small,but if you add a Low-Pro by the pictures I have seen,it ends up fairly big.
