Subject:Speakeasy pre-amp for Motion Sound :o)

Hi everyone,
Today was new toy day! I picked up my Speakeasy Vintage tube
pre-amp today & it's every bit as good as I thought it would be. I
used my XM-1 to test it out today & the sound is phenomenal!
The XM-1 suffers from some gain issues at times but, going through
this pre-amp, those issues vanish. I set both XM-1 volumes at 12:00,
both Motion Sound volumes slightly less than 12:00 & the pre-amp
still was tearing my head off if I cranked it. Talk about head room
to spare...it was louder than I'd be able to take for a whole gig.
The sound was full & warm, sounding very realistic, even on
88888888. No annoying beating or phasing, just clear tones. Each
drawbar could be clearly heard when I moved them & minimal
registrations like 40000201 actually had plenty of punch. It's very
easy to get a really sweet tube saturation too. Drawbars at 66650300,
nice clean sound; pull those first three out to 888 & you have as
much growl as you want.
I can honestly say that I won't feel guilty at all about leaving my
Leslie at home except for the really big shows. I'll have more
volume with just the Motion Sound Pro3T & LowPro with the SV pre-amp
than my band could handle on stage. How many other folks out there
get tired of hearing people say the guitar is burying you in the mix?
Well, no more of that for me. I'll actually be able to cut through
when I need to.
I haven't tested it out with my BC yet, but you can bet I will.
Bottom line - I'm definitely a very happy camper. If
you've thought about a tube pre-amp before, this is the one to get.
The price is affordable. It's strong & well made. Best of all
there's a 30 day money back guarantee. You don't like it, send it
back. All you loose is the shipping. No chance of me sending mine
back though. Steve has definitely come up with a winner here for all
the clones out there, regardless of whether you use a Motion Sound or
an on-board simulator. Thanks Steve.
Peace through music,
David
