Now I just run my modules through a small mixer onstage, and then direct
into the sound system. Our on-stage monitors recreate the tones much more
faithfully for piano sounds.

I have an XK2 I use for Hammond, running through my Motion-Sound R3-147.
I'm not entirely happy with this setup, but it's pretty stinking good. I'm
seriously considering one of the speakeasy pedals or running through a voce
v5, but I've got to scrape together some cash first and right now I'm in the
middle of a self-financed studio project, if you know what I mean.

I don't know why, but the r3-147 sounded 10 times better than the kbr-3d to
me. They both use basically the same technology...? I bought the kbr as a
b-stock item though, so mine might somehow have been deficient. I'm
extremely pleased with the r3-147 - plus it gives you complete control over
rise and fall times, as well as slow and fast speeds for both rotors. It is
a rack unit, though, and cannot be heard onstage. You'll need an amp if you
don't like the idea of running it direct.
