Subject:Pro 3T volume
Sometime back I posted a message about my Motion Sound Pro-3T not
sounding very loud (both the horn and the low outs). I bought it new,
and it always was this way; good, but low volume. I wasn't sure how
loud it was designed to be, so I just wasn't sure if it was working
right or what. John Fisher at Motion Sound suggested it was possibly a
tube, and he sent me a replacement tube. I thought if the tube was
bad, it wouldn't sound at all...
Well, first of all, taking this guy apart wasn't easy, although now I
have done it twice and have the hang of it - one hint - remove the 4
knobs for the controls - they slide right off. And removing the tube
was really a bitch; I had to gently pry it loose with a screwdriver as
it was pretty inaccessable. Several minutes of delicate neck craning,
hands-and-knees tedium.
But...but... as soon as I had done it, it sounded great - the volume
doubled. Playing last weekend was totally fun, and every body dug it.
So I guess the moral is, perevere when you think things aren't right -
you know?
Thanks to John for diagnosing the problem and sending me a tube ASAP.
