Subject:Shrill CX3s and no-spin Rotospheres

Dear folks,

The JBL EON was terrifyingly clean and powerful at the gig. However, the
inherent shrillness of the CX3 was accurately reproduced in the EON. Which
brings me to the Rotosphere.

I recall someone on the list saying that affixing the center button of the
Rotosphere in the down position (no spin) turned it into a basic "warm up"
tube preamp.

Let me get to the point: (1) Can someone tell me an easy way to keep the
(spring-loaded) center button of the Rotosphere in the down position? (2) Do
you think the Rotosphere would function well as a "warmup" preamp, or should
I look elsewhere for a solution to my shrillness problem? Thanks.
