Hehehe. No kidding....I often have to hear about my choice of
Rhodes....and "What's that tremelo sound???? Can't you just play the
piano sounds?" We keyboardists spend hours tweaking and researching how
to get the best of the best and what do we get? ....wrinkled-up noses
and....in the middle of the song... "OK, stop, stop. What sound is that?"
It's all fun :)
But seriously....I have been thinking about using my notebook as a dedicated
"Hammond". It's not really a luxury I want to take, because I'd prefer to
have other stuff on it too....but I kinda need to buy a desktop anyway.
I'm finding that I can't screw around with performance music software.
I've got to tweak it and leave it. I like the B4 sounds enough that I'm
willing to have my notebook as the dedicated unit. I bought a PC-1600x
and it works like a charm for controlling the sound.
You see, I have 2 interests. I like playing with toys...and I also need
rock solid music equipement for my band gigs. For me, the toys come
second.

Daniel,
Hello again :-)
Sorry to hear about the h/w not delivering.
I was just sorta wondering ...
Do you have the luxury of a *dedicated* computer??
Maybe you already tried that, but I know from experience it has a
real effect on reliability.
What? Band says:"Get over it"??
One of the things that always pissed me about bands I've been in is that
they (at least in my case) have a tendency to offer advice to the keyboard
player. No one tells a drummer which sticks to use! No one tells a
guitarist which stompbox to buy but they all seem to wanna offer advice on
which organ or what strings ..... I just nod and smile and do what I feel
like.
