Subject:Re: [OT] Opinions: Keyboard vs Korg CX-3
Greetings:
If I understand this post correctly, you are considering selling most/all
your current gear to purchase a Korg CX-3. Well, first of all, you must
consider how important your other keyboards are to your overall
gigging/recording situation. I remember your attempt at trying to buy a
Hammond C3 a while back but this situation is obviously different. The CX3
is an excellent sounding clone with many versatile features. Some people
dislike the keyboard, (I'm one of them), but this should be something you
need to research for yourself. Also, it is almost imperative to run the CX
through either a Lez or a high quality Lez simulator to get the most out of
the instrument.
If you have a Micro BII, the Cx will sound a lot better for sure, but it
will not miraculously give you a "magical B3 in a box". (No clone ever will)
But, playability is 100% better than the Voce. Real drawbars and real time
control of perc. etc. To use the CX as a Midi master controller is something
I would rather not comment on. It was designed as an organ controller, it
probably would work O/K in a pinch, but...well, whatever. Keep your other
controller for the Wurli/Rhodes/etc. type sounds. My advice is to keep the
Roland, buy the CX3 and use the Leslie you already have. (You used to have
one, did you sell it or trade it?) A real Leslie or good sim, (Motion sound,
Rotosphere, etc) is 50% of the sound.
Good luck...again
