I have had that problem but only when I was pressing keys and then turned
the presets knob, thus messing up the information traveling to the V3. Then
the only solution was to turn off the V3 unit and re-boot.

Subject: Re: [CWSG] V-3 Note Lock

It sounds like you might need service. I've seen the "stuck key" bug where
the V3 drops a Note Off message, but that can be fixed by finding the stuck
note and hitting the key once. The fact that it is happening more
frequently implies that something is wearing out.

One possibility: Does the top of the case get exceptionally warm? V3's
run hot by nature, and if you have it housed near another warm device,
maybe it's overheating. Some of the components touch the top plate of the
case for cooling purposes, and they use that messy white silicone grease to
make good contact. Sometimes, that grease dries out with age, or the
plate gets bent a tiny amount -- usually, not enough to see it -- and stops
making contact. If you pop the top on the V3, see if there's plenty of
that grease in the area of the heat sinks on the PC board (the parts that
touch the top plate). If not, go to Radio Shack (tm) -- you've got
questions; hey, so do we ;^) -- and get a little tube of it and add some to
the inside of the top plate, then put everything back together. I had some
funny things happening with my V3 when I first bought it, and that cleared
them up.
