Subject:Re: [Voce] Voce V5 Tuning Problem!

John,

It sounds like you have a problem with your unit, which probably requires
servicing.  I don't own a V5 myself (I have a V3), but I haven't
heard of this problem from any of the V5 owners in the group.  The
problem could be as simple as a bad potentiometer ("pot"), but
it sounds more like the internal oscillator has stability problems.

Here's an interesting test:  You say you have to adjust it a couple
of times before it's stable; I'll bet that the final adjustment puts it
back in about the same place every time; i.e., you have one setting for
"cold" use, and another for "warmed-up" use.
Unfortunately, the knob isn't calibrated, so it's hard to tell.  Try
setting the knob once the V5 is warmed up, and don't touch it after
that.  The next time you use the V5, turn it on and walk away from
it for about 10-15 minutes before playing it.  When you come back,
is it in tune?  If so, then it probably means that the oscillator is
not able to compensate for temperature changes -- it needs service.
If it's still out of tune, then the pot behind the knob may be at
fault.

BTW, what are you using to determine that the V5 is "out of
tune"?  It's also possible that the measurement/reference unit
is varying, not the V5.

As to the use of a knob for tuning, Voce products are not 100% digital;
they are a hybrid of analog and digital technology -- by design.

Best regards,

-BW

Hi there

      I'm enjoying the V5 I've purchased last
year, gig after gig.

However, there's a real problem with it, and I'm wondering if you may

have any helpful ideas. It goes out of tune, and before every gig I

have to tune it with my guitar players tuner. Sometimes during the

first set it'll go out of tune again, but usually after I tune it

twice, it's usually ok for the evening. This is a real pain, and I

need to solve the problem. It has a manual, twist nob style tuner,

which I'd have to say is very strange, considering today's

technology. but anyway.......

Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks for your time.
