Subject:Rotosphere/ Motion sound

Well, I did my first gig with my new and improved Tube Rotosphere last night.
I had the breaker switch changed to an on/off switch, and last night put my
RD-600 through it. It gave the already great Rhodes sounds much more punch
and warmth; it did change the timbre of the sound, but actually made it feel
and sound more like a Rhodes. I found the right setting for the input and
output gains, so when I hit hard, it pushed the tube a bit more and growled a
bit, just like a Rhodes. I haven't had that much fun with that sound in a
long time! I found that the most appealing timbre/eq was when I stopped the
rotor effect with the green light on the top right on. And then I surprised
the band during a jam with the rhodes through the fast leslie effect. What a
great sound to pull out of a hat!

I also got a tip from someone about an alternative to the footswitch for my
Motion Sound KBR-M. I've had this peeve about the footswitch, where I'm
always forgetting what speed I left the leslie spinning at, and always found
myself either turning around a lot to look at the amp or starting to play
organ and getting pissed that the leslie speed wasn't where I wanted it to be
at the time. Bruce suggested an LED footswitch, which I started looking
into, and then someone else suggested an Ernie Ball mono guitar pedal, which
works with the Motion Sound stuff. I happened to have an extra one, and
plugged it in and it works great! Heel position is slow, and a little over
1/2 way up is fast.

It's amazing how a few little things can improve the playing experience so
much!
