I've found this group informative and friendly with never a flame.
I'm 56 and live in the UK. I did play in hotels and pubs for a while
but this old wine has mellowed and I just play for my own amusement
now.
I noticed that you have played instruments connected to various
Leslies, and I've been struggling to get a decent simulated Leslie,
which I have now managed to my satisfaction and now I've decided to
get the real thing, and use the simulation for headphone practise.
I need something small and have got the opportunity of purchasing a
Leslie 302, which has a horn rotor and a simulated bass. Its a combo
Leslie with 1'4 inch line in as well as 11 pin and is ideal for my
purpose.
I wondered whether you had come across this model or whether any
other Clonewheeler had any experience of this cabinet.
According to the review by Mark Longo it sounds like a Leslie but he
doesn't normally have his bass rotor spinning so he's not sure how
the bass simulation compares to the real spin.
I would guess that the main contribution to the Leslie sound comes
from the treble element and that a bass sim. might be OK. I believe
that some of the Sound-in-Motion products work in the same way.
Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Thomas.
