Subject:drawbar question: why is 5 1/3 not between 8' and 4'?

A few days ago I got finally my new Korg CX-3. Until then I used to
play a little "Hammond" with the 8 drawbars clone of the Yamaha PSR-
740 of my son. And I've read all the hammond-faq-stuff there in the
net.

Now, with two sets of real and good sounding drawbars, I explained
the functionality of the additive synthesis of a drawbar organ to my
ten year old son.

After a while he asked me: But daddy, why is 5_1/3 as an exception
not in ascending line? And why is it brown and not black like the
other "odd" numbers?

I can't answer him! Not it's yours, ham-fans, to help me saving my
face: Can you help me?

Shifting one octave down, the sound of 00 888 000 (8+4+2_2/3) is the
same like 88 800 000 (16+8+5_1/3). So I have no idea why 5_1/3 is NOT
between 8 and 4 (like 2_2/3 between 4 and 2).

And why is it brown and not black?

And, to close my questions: why is 16' not white like 8+4+2+1?

Nothing important - you say - but it would really be interesting
knowing an answer to all these questions...

Thanks, Vali
