Subject:Re: My new Christmas V5 vs. my old OB3 squared
Has anyone done a comparison of the peavey KBA300 to the Roland KC500? Just
curious.
OK..OK...now I know how good the V5 sounds through my Pro 3T and
Peavey KB 300. I guess the best comparison is that the V5 is a B-3
clone and the Oberheim is sort of an E100 clone without all the
tabs. Anyway, that's the way it sounds to me. I've owned an E100
before and currently have two B-3's, so now that I've A-B compared
the two clones the Oberheim still sounds good, but not like the V5.
And like expected, the V5 is amazingly close through one of my real
Leslie's. I kind of wish I hadn't done an A-B between the Motion
Sound and the real Leslie. Don't get me wrong, I love that Pro 3T
and the convienence of it, but I'm tempted to start packing a Leslie
again after hearing the V5 through it. Let's see.....get Speakeasy
to customize a tube pre-amp to run a 122, 770, AND the Pro 3T all at
the same time (ala Trek II UC-1A).....no, replace the Trek II solid
state pre-amp in my chopped B-3 with a Speakeasy tube pre-amp....no,
sell the....wait, no, keep the...........but then I'd need a....but
what really would be nice is........(hopelessly lost in the "Hammond
Habit verses everyday living necessities" loop....again)
