IMO, you'd be ahead to not look too diligently for an exact replacement.
Though I've no V5 info, the early MidiDB had the orange knob that protruded
and, as you found, was prone to damage against the otherwise slick backside.
The newer units went with a flush switch.

The older units could be 'adjusted' by hand and the newer flush-types
require a small screwdriver device, but it's generally a set-and-forget
knob anyway. You probably really want the new style.

They appear to be garden variety hex switches -- though I'm not much
help on exact part numbers, sorry.
