I used to use an FC-7 to control expression on my V3. However, I didn't
use the input on the back of the V3; I used the FC-7 as the
expression/volume pedal input on a MIDI keyboard -- first, a Roland D-50,
and later a Yamaha AN1x -- and used MIDI to provide the expression data to
the V3. The MIDI implementation on the V3 is excellent, and you can
disable MIDI volume reception, and map the expression control to CC#7
instead, if that's the only signal your controller keyboard can muster. I
tried using the V3's onboard jack, but I never really liked the results, at
least, with the FC-7. YMMV. Also, be aware that the expression circuit on
the V3 varies from unit to unit: some V3's have a lot of dynamic range,
others do not. None of them have the dynamic range of an AO-28
preamp. This is irrespective of whatever model of pedal is used.
