Hey Larry, I take it the Solina was, uh..shall we say..less than wonderful?
Doesn't surprise me. Back then it may have sounded good to me, but then
again...so did a Fairlight Ver 1. (8 bit samples I think)

Yes indeed. They're also fetchin' 'killer' prices on E-bay too. All things
being equal, many of those old vintage synths still sound bitchin' today.
Maybe even moreso due to the digital malaise that set in in the late 90's.
My Minimoog ALWAYS seems to spark comments by players and listeners who have
never heard an Analog synth in person.

However, the maintenance alone precludes most sensible people from using
these instruments for gigging. (I do not either) Very much like Hammond
clones, it is just not possible for many to use, and abuse, the real McCoy
for live work. It's just as well, beacuse instruments like the ARP 2600 or
2500 are not only suited to studio work, there are so few left and should be
perserved. (Those machines were never really built for the road
anyway...another topic)

I hope Bruce doesn't hoof me off for this thread...but I did mention clone
in there somewhere.
